Galen teen falls asleep behind the wheel, causes crash that hospitalizes two people

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported a personal injury accident in the Village of Clyde on Saturday during the early-morning hours.

Japheth L. Horning, 19, of Galen, was driving northbound on State Route 414 when he fell asleep at the wheel.

Horning’s vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, striking another vehicle occupied by two people.

The collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles and resulted in injuries to the occupants of the other vehicle.

Both the driver and passenger were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

Horning was issued a traffic citation and released. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Fire and EMS personnel.
