The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-1, on Saturday night at Citi Field for their third straight victory.

Chris Bassitt got the ball and fired six shutout innings while striking out eight. The right-hander improved to 14-8 on the season. David Peterson followed Bassitt and recorded seven outs before Adam Ottavino recorded the final two.

Eduardo Escobar crushed a three-run home run, his 18th of the season. Brandon Nimmo and Pete Alonso had bases-loaded walks.

The Mets will go for the four-game sweep on Sunday with Jacob deGrom on the mound. The first pitch is slated for 1:40 p.m.
