The Yates County Legislature has approved an agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration for a project at the airport there.
At a special meeting this month the body approved a grant of more than $267,000 for aircraft de-icing equipment.
The FAA wanted the agreement signed before the Legislature’s regular September meeting. If they waited longer, the grant money could have disappeared.
The County’s share of purchasing the de-icing truck is 5% or around $14,000.
County officials lamented working with the FAA, noting that sometimes it’s a challenge. That said, the airport in Penn Yan gets funding from federal or state entities on a nearly-annual basis.
