Aaron Judge’s Major League-leading 49th home run of the season lifted the New York Yankees to a 3-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Friday night at the Coliseum.

Gerrit Cole started on the mound and was dominant as he allowed one run over 7 1/3 innings while striking out 11. He became the first pitcher in Major League Baseball to reach 200 strikeouts this season.

Jonathan Loáisiga recorded the final two outs of the eighth before Wandy Peralta surrendered a run in the ninth.

All three of the Yankees’ runs came in the top of the fifth inning on Judge’s home run.

Oswaldo Cabrera notched his second straight three-hit game.

Domingo Germán will get the ball on Saturday as the Yankees will try to secure a series win. The first pitch is slated for 9:07 p.m.
