Colorado taxpayers now have less than two weeks to claim up to $1,000 in stimulus checks.
Your state taxes must be filed by June 30 to be eligible.
Stimulus payments of $350 per month under federal plan possible for millions of Americans
How to claim the stimulus
Colorado residents will get tax rebates to help counteract the impact of inflation. If you wait until after June 30 to file your state taxes, you won’t get the rebate until next January. The original deadline was May 31, but it has been extended.
The Colorado Cashback program will give single filers $500 checks and joint filers $1,000. To receive the refund in August, your Colorado individual income tax return for 2021 must be filed by June 30.
Residents can also apply for the 2021 Property Tax/Rent/Heat Rebate Credit (PTC) by June 30.
Taxpayers who don’t file by the deadline can file an extension, but it still must be done by October 17. If you choose to file an extension, your rebates won’t come in the mail until January 2023.
In order to qualify, you must be a full-year Colorado resident and at least 18 years old.
