If a plan from lawmakers passes, millions could see stimulus child tax credit payments worth $350 per month.
In 2021, the child tax credit payment was boosted to $3,600 under the American Rescue Act.
For 2022, that amount has returned to $2,000 after the boost was not extended.
When it ended, 3.7 million children returned to poverty.
Child Tax Credit updates for the week of June 13, 2022
Stimulus child tax credit payments under federal proposal
This would send advanced stimulus payments worth $350 per month to eligible families.
That’s even bigger than the maximum $300 per month Americans saw in 2021.
Romney stated that raising a family right now is challenging and this would help raise society’s children.
Eligibility requirements for the stimulus payments
There is a work requirement for this child tax credit that there wasn’t in 2021.
This is under the Family Security Act 2.0, and states that qualifying families must have earned at least $10,000 to get the benefit.
If you earned less, your stimulus payments will be proportional to your earnings.
Kids under the age of six could see $350 per month.
Kids between ages six and 17 would see $250 per month, or $3,000 in all.
The limit for income is $200,000 for single filers and $400,000 for joint filers.
The bill is currently just a proposal. It would still need to be passed to become a reality.
