The New York Yankees cruised past the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night with a 9-1 victory in the series opener at Yankee Stadium.
Jordan Montgomery made the start for New York and tossed seven innings of one-run ball. The left-hander picked up his first win since September 21, 2021. Miguel Castro and David McKay each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
Matt Carpenter and Jose Trevino homered for the Yankees, while DJ LeMahieu drove in a pair of runs. Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Gleyber Torres also collected RBIs. Everyone in New York’s starting lineup had at least a hit except for Aaron Judge.
Luis Rengifo brought home the Angels’ lone run.
Nestor Cortes will get the ball on Wednesday night as the Yankees go for the series win. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
