Syracuse Mets fall to Worcester Red Sox in series opener

The Syracuse Mets fell to the Worcester Red Sox, 9-8, in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Polar Park.

Connor Grey made the start for Syracuse and allowed three runs on seven hits over three innings. Jose Rodriguez, Yoan López, and R.J. Alvarez combined to allow six runs in relief.


Mark Vientos led Syracuse with three hits and an RBI, while Jake Mangum and Nick Dino each had two hits and an RBI. Khalil Lee, Daniel Palka, and Daniel Johnson also had RBIs.

Connor Wong delivered the walk-off hit for Worcester in the bottom of the 10th.

The two teams will be right back at it on Wednesday afternoon. The first pitch is slated for 12:15 p.m.
