Municipalities in Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties could get millions in federal funds if Congress approves the proposal, Rep. Claudia Tenney announced Tuesday.

Tenney, R-24 of Oswego County has selected five local projects for consideration by the House Appropriations Committee. These projects aim to improve water infrastructure, public safety, and community revitalization. Among the top proposals is a $15 million downtown revitalization project in Lyons.

Other projects include $4.5 million for a sanitary sewer project in Phelps, $3.5 million for a storm sewer replacement in Waterloo, $2.2 million for a water project in Torrey, and $800,000 to relocate Macedon’s ambulance base.

“One of my top priorities in Congress is to ensure our community has the resources it needs to thrive,” Tenney told the Finger Lakes Times. Local officials, including Phelps Supervisor Bill Wellman and Torrey Supervisor Peter Martini, expressed gratitude for Tenney’s support, emphasizing the positive impact these funds will have on their communities. The proposals now await further review and approval.
