Former Addison village clerk pleads guilty to stealing over $1M

Ursula Stone, the former Addison village clerk, has pleaded guilty to stealing over $1 million from village funds over 19 years. This plea deal satisfies all other charges against her, according to the Steuben County court clerk.

Stone was arrested in November 2023 on 192 felony counts, including grand larceny and money laundering. Authorities say Stone filed false documents to hide her thefts from January 2004 to April 2023. She allegedly stole checks meant for the village, gave herself unauthorized pay raises, and cashed out unused vacation time.

Stone resigned in March 2023 during the investigation by the New York State Comptroller’s office. She is set to be sentenced on August 1 in Steuben County court.
