Tensions run high at Rep. Williams town hall

  • Staff Report

Tensions ran high at a town hall hosted by Congressman Brandon Williams in Clay. One attendee was escorted out by security for vocally supporting Palestine.

With deliberations in former President Trump’s hush money trial resuming soon, attendees and Williams were asked about their support for Trump. Some protesters targeted both the congressman and the Republican Party.

Williams’ town halls use a format where attendees submit written questions and show agreement or disagreement with red or green cards. “This method prevents shouting matches and encourages thoughtful dialogue,” Williams said. Some attendees expressed continued support for Trump, even if convicted. Williams declined to comment on hypothetical scenarios involving Trump.
