Two Macedon business owners brave cold to help homeless

Two local business owners spent 48 hours outdoors to raise money for the local homeless population this past weekend.

Steve MacNeal, owner of Mac’s Pizza Shack, and Dan Godown, owner of Dis Batch Brewing, began their challenge on Friday, February 4, according to 13 Wham. The businesses, located next door to one another in Macedon, had been accepting donations through the week prior as well.

The businesses accepted new and gently used clothing, non-perishable food items, and monetary donations. All proceeds from the challenge will go to Wayne County Action program and Family Promise of Wayne County.

MacNeal said he got the idea while serving two decades in law enforcement, where he saw the homeless population in Wayne County steadily increase. He says they will likely repeat the challenge next winter.

The owners plans to deliver the donations to nonprofit organizations this week.
