After being closed on Monday, officials in the Weedsport Central School District said that the junior and senior high school would remain closed on Tuesday.
Over the weekend three positive cases were discovered in the buildings, and those positives resulted in extensive necessary contact tracing.
A message to the district indicated that remote learning would continue on Tuesday.
Staff at the school are working to deep clean the facilities so that students and faculty can come back to a safe environment.
Weedsport schools close after COVID exposure at cross country meet, three new positives
The Weedsport Central School District is closed Monday after three more COVID-19 cases were discovered.
The district announced that the closure came about after working with Cayuga County health officials who are responsible for contact tracing and notification.
The closure impacts the middle and high schools. The elementary school will be open for students in kindergarten through fourth grade.
“Final notification regarding the necessity and length of the mandatory quarantine for those who may have been exposed will be issued by the health department,” Superintendent Shaun O’Connor said.
Earlier in the weekend the health department released notification that there could have been an exposure of the virus at a cross country meet that happened Saturday.
An athlete and spectator had tested positive.
