NY lawmakers delay Medicaid hearing for answers

New York senators postponed a hearing on the $9 billion Medicaid-funded home care program, CDPAP, aiming to ensure the state Health Department testifies, according to Spectrum News 1. The hearing, now set for Aug. 21, was delayed after officials said they needed more time to prepare.

Lawmakers are investigating concerns over bid-rigging and payment errors tied to PPL, the sole company now managing CDPAP. Advocates say the transition left thousands without services and allege PPL is ignoring nonprofit partners designed to support disabled users.

With a federal judge extending a key enrollment deadline to Aug. 1, scrutiny is mounting. Officials insist the reforms will save millions, but critics argue the shift favors profit over care.
