Paid sick leave bill getting expedited, expected by next month

The bill mandating paid sick leave is moving forward in New York.

The bill is being amended to include those who have been quarantined due to the spread of coronavirus in the state, which now includes thousands of people.

“We have in gross terms of wanting to come up with something,” Heastie said. “I think the members want to come up with something. We just have to work out the details.”

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday said he wanted the measure to be expedited this month as lawmakers gear up to passing the broader $178 billion budget by April 1st, the start of the state’s fiscal year.
