Steuben Rural Electric Co-op Inc. has been awarded $2,349,547 in FEMA funding to repair distribution lines damaged by Tropical Storm Fred in the fall of 2021. The grant approval was announced by Congressman Nick Langworthy’s office.
“Fortifying our power grid should be a major priority for communities across New York State,” Langworthy stated. “The infusion of $2.3 million is a step in the right direction for the Southern Tier’s continued access to electrical services.”
The funding is part of FEMA’s Public Assistance Program, which aims to restore public infrastructure following emergencies.
