The 4 most prevalent incidents that are seen in many industrial operations involving a vehicle are identified as rollovers, rear collisions, backing and intersection incidents. Our awareness of those risk areas allow us to better prepare our team to eliminate incidents in these critical “Target 4 Incident” hot zones.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),intersection incidents are most prevalent in every day auto incidents.
The NHTSA highlighted the following critical reasons behind most intersectionincidents attributed to drivers:
- Inadequate surveillance – failed to look, or looked but did not see
- Distraction
- Decision error – too fast, false assumption or misjudgement, etc.
- Performance error – overcompensation, poor directional control, etc.
- Nonperformance error – asleep at the wheel, physical impairment, etc.
