Hopewell man jailed on rape charge, accused of threatening corrections officer

A man who had been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and raping a woman more than a decade ago, has now been charged with stalking.

Michael Orbino, 42, is being held at the Ontario County Jail. He’s accused of threatening physical and sexual violence against a corrections officer.

Orbino was arrested in January for allegedly raping a woman in Canandaigua in 2008. Just a few months earlier, he was found not guilty of two felony counts of stalking as a hate crime. In that case, he was convicted of misdemeanor harassment.

Deputies say Orbino was issued an appearance ticket for third-degree stalking, a misdemeanor, and is due back in court at a later date.
