Route 63 will close between Parker Hill Road and White Bridge Road in the Livingston County town of Sparta at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, for a culvert replacement, according to a New York State Department of Transportation advisory.
The state expects to reopen the road by Friday, Nov. 6. During the closure, drivers should follow the posted detour using Route 36 and Interstate 390.
DOT advised motorists to allow for delays or seek another route. Construction is weather-dependent, so the schedule could change.
The agency also urged drivers to slow down in the work zone. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone, and two or more work-zone speeding convictions could lead to a driver's license suspension.
Drivers can check current conditions through 511NY before traveling.
