The ramp from southbound Interstate 81 to northbound Interstate 481 in Syracuse is scheduled to close from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, for work on the I-81 Viaduct Project.
The New York State Department of Transportation's traveler advisory identifies the affected ramp in Onondaga County and directs drivers to follow a signed detour during the eight-hour closure.
The detour takes southbound I-81 traffic to Exit 1B at East Glen Avenue, east on East Glen Avenue, south on East Brighton Avenue and east on Rock Cut Road before returning north on I-481, according to the department.
The closure is for construction tied to the viaduct project. DOT said the work is weather-dependent and the schedule could change.
Drivers can check 511NY for current travel conditions. DOT urged motorists to slow down in the work zone; speeding fines are doubled there.
