New York State Police issued 19,168 tickets during a six-day traffic enforcement campaign that targeted speeding, aggressive driving and violations of the Move Over Law.
The first Fall Safe Speed initiative ran from Sept. 22 through Sept. 27. Troopers issued 9,344 speeding tickets and 492 tickets for Move Over Law violations, state police said.
Troopers also issued 415 tickets for distracted driving and 603 for seat belt violations. State police described those figures as a sampling of the violations cited during the campaign.
The overall ticket count was up from 12,040 during the comparable six-day period in 2025. Speeding tickets rose from 3,826 to 9,344, while Move Over Law tickets rose from 166 to 492.
State police did not include a regional breakdown in the information provided with the announcement.
