A woman convicted of stealing merchandise on two visits to a Victor TJ Maxx was sentenced Monday to two years in state prison, the Ontario County District Attorney's Office said.
Melissa Miller, 35, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony. An Ontario County Court judge imposed the sentence Sept. 28, according to the district attorney's release.
The case involved thefts at the store at 20 Square Drive on Nov. 9 and Nov. 22, 2025. Investigators said Miller took merchandise worth $382.85 on the first visit and $661.93 on the second without paying.
The district attorney's office said Miller had received written notice on May 24, 2024, prohibiting her from entering or remaining at TJ Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods properties. The release did not say when the investigation began or describe any other charges arising from the two visits.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office investigated the case, and Assistant District Attorney Paul Irving prosecuted it. District Attorney Jason MacBride said the repeated thefts occurred after Miller had been formally barred from the stores.
Miller was sentenced to the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
