Ontario County sheriff’s deputies filed charges against a Canandaigua man in two separate cases Tuesday involving alleged attempts to steal from vehicles and a later disturbance at a public building.
Deputies were called to the Fallbrook Mobile Home Park on State Route 364 shortly before 6 a.m. after several larcenies were reported, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators alleged Jason D. Ward entered several vehicles and rummaged through them while attempting to steal property.
The sheriff’s office said deputies identified Ward through camera footage supplied by a victim and through statements he made during the investigation.
Ward was arrested around 6:40 a.m. on two counts of attempted petit larceny, taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment and released under pretrial supervision, according to the release.
He is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at 6 p.m. Oct. 1.
In a separate release, the sheriff’s office said deputies arrested Ward after responding to a disturbance at a public building on County Complex Drive in Hopewell around 8:54 a.m.
He was charged in that case with disorderly conduct, third-degree menacing, third-degree criminal tampering and failure by a sex offender to report a change of address, a Class E felony, according to the sheriff’s office.
Ward was returned to the Ontario County Jail to await centralized arraignment and is expected to answer the charges in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
The sheriff’s office identified the same man in both releases but listed him as 36 in the vehicle case and 35 in the Hopewell case.
