A driver was taken to Upstate University Hospital’s trauma center after a truck rolled over on Route 34 North in Genoa on Thursday morning, according to the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 8 a.m. Aug. 27. The single-vehicle crash was initially believed to be within the Scipio, Venice or Ledyard fire districts, prompting units from those departments to respond before crews determined the crash was in Genoa’s district.
The driver and a dog traveling in the vehicle were able to get out on their own, fire officials said. The truck came to rest off the roadway.
Four Town First Aid transported the driver to Upstate for treatment. No information about the extent of the driver’s injuries was immediately available.
Genoa firefighters turned the scene over to law enforcement and were back in service by about 8:30 a.m.
The crash came during a morning that also saw emergency crews respond to a separate serious collision elsewhere in Cayuga County, where two people were transported to Upstate following a vehicle-versus-utility-pole crash on Conquest Road.
