A Bath man was charged with felony drunken driving twice in less than 24 hours after police said he left the scene of two property-damage crashes.
Stephen Boyer, 63, was first arrested at about 6:05 p.m. July 31 after officers responded to a crash on East Washington Street.
Witnesses told police the striking vehicle left the scene and that its driver appeared intoxicated. Officers later located Boyer and the vehicle on West Morris Street.
Police said Boyer was intoxicated and had a previous DWI conviction. He was charged with felony DWI, aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of 0.18% or higher and other traffic violations.
Boyer was processed, released on appearance tickets and turned over to a sober person.
At about 11:20 a.m. Aug. 1, police responded to another property-damage crash on West Morris Street and were told the striking vehicle had again left before officers arrived.
Police located the vehicle on East Washington Street and identified Boyer as the driver. Investigators said he was again intoxicated.
Boyer was charged a second time with felony DWI, aggravated DWI and additional traffic violations. His vehicle was towed, and he was again released on appearance tickets to a sober person.
He is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
