Orchard Park man charged with aggravated DWI after wrong-way driving in Canandaigua

A 35-year-old Orchard Park man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after Ontario County deputies said they saw him drive the wrong way on a one-way road in Canandaigua and cross a grass median into an opposing lane.

Robert Howard Strauch was arrested without incident following a traffic stop at about 8:42 p.m. Monday, July 13, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Strauch performed standardized field sobriety tests and was determined to have been driving while intoxicated. He was taken to the Ontario County Jail for a chemical breath test.

The sheriff's office said the test measured Strauch's blood alcohol content at 0.22%. The arrest was listed as aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Strauch was issued several traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua City Court at 8:30 a.m. July 31 to answer the charges.

The charges are allegations, and Strauch is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
