Joseph "Joe" Fazary of Watkins Glen has been selected as the 2026 grand marshal for the Schuyler County Italian American Festival Parade, festival organizers announced. The Schuyler County Italian American Festival Committee said Fazary was chosen for his service and dedication to the Watkins Glen and Schuyler County communities.
Fazary, a lifelong Watkins Glen resident, served in the United States Army, spent 22 years in the radio business and later managed South Tier Electronics, according to the announcement.
For the past 24 years, Fazary has served as a Schuyler County election commissioner, where organizers said he has continued his commitment to public service.
The committee said Fazary's military service, professional accomplishments, civic leadership and commitment to Schuyler County make him an outstanding choice to lead this year's parade.
Fazary and his wife, Barbara, are the parents of four children and have many grandchildren, according to the release.
The parade is scheduled for noon Saturday, Aug. 15. Organizers said the community is invited to celebrate Fazary during the annual Schuyler County Italian American Festival Parade.
