Seneca Falls police say they are increasing their visible presence in the community after what Chief Timothy Snyder called a “concerning increase” in juvenile-related violence, according to 13WHAM.
Snyder said the department has investigated three juvenile stabbings in the last four months and has also seen more juveniles gathering in public places late at night or overnight, creating broader public safety concerns.
The most recent incident is still under investigation.
Police said officers will continue engaging with juveniles during evening hours and may contact parents or guardians when young people are out late without a clear or legitimate reason. Snyder said the goal is prevention, not punishment.
The department also urged parents to talk with their children about violence, decision-making and consequences, saying public safety requires a broader community response involving families, schools, residents and law enforcement.
