Canandaigua police seek witnesses after man thrown from pickup

Canandaigua police are asking for the public's help after a man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was thrown from the bed of a pickup truck on Lakeshore Drive.

The City of Canandaigua Police Department said officers responded at 12:31 a.m. July 5 for a reported personal injury crash.

Police said responding officers determined the driver of a pickup truck accelerated at a high rate of speed, causing the male victim to be thrown from the truck bed.

The pickup left the scene after the incident but was later identified, according to police.

The injured man was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Police said he was in guarded condition.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact Detective Anthony Catalfamo at (585) 337-2183 or ACatalfamo@canandaiguanewyork.gov.

Police said information may be provided anonymously and will be kept confidential.
