A delivery driver died after being pinned between a van and a porch support during a package delivery in Wayne County, state police said.
Troopers said the incident happened around 8:29 p.m. July 6 at a residence on Eades Road in the town of Wolcott.
According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of a 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van had pulled into the driveway to make a package delivery. After stopping, the driver got out of the van to retrieve packages from the cargo area.
State police said the van then began rolling forward toward the residence.
Witnesses yelled to warn the driver, who attempted to stop the vehicle before it hit the home. Troopers said the driver lost his footing and became pinned between the moving van and a porch support, suffering severe head injuries.
Bystanders moved the vehicle off the driver and rendered aid until emergency responders arrived, according to state police.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the residence sustained minor damage. The investigation remains ongoing.
