Victor has opened a new accessible playground at Dryer Road Park, completing a community-driven project that residents identified as a priority in 2024.
The town celebrated the grand opening Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the park, located at 7405 Dryer Road.
The project began in September 2024, when residents ranked an accessible playground among the top priorities in the Parks and Recreation Citizens' Advisory Committee's Priority Projects Survey.
The playground spans about 7,200 square feet and includes an Inclusive Whirl for all-ages play, a ramped play structure for children ages 2 to 5, a tree swing, a toddler swing, a roped climbing structure and a play area for children ages 5 to 12 with towers and tube slides.
Town Board Member Alexis Ogra said one goal was to encourage children and families to spend more time outside. She said the playground also includes seating and shade for parents and accessible flooring that can accommodate strollers, wheelchairs and grandparents.
The new surface replaces wood chips and is designed to make the playground easier to use for children and adults with mobility needs.
