Forte Studios will bring the first musical ever staged at Fort Hill Performing Arts Center to Canandaigua in July with a production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."
The performances, scheduled for July 10, 11 and 12, will also mark Forte Studios' first full-length musical theater production, according to the studio.
The production is being presented in partnership with Fort Hill Performing Arts Center, which has sought to add live musical theater to its programming.
"Bringing 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee' to Fort Hill's stage is an exciting moment for both Forte Studios and our community," said Joseph Johnson, owner and director of Forte Studios. "We are honored to partner with Fort Hill Performing Arts Center to launch a new chapter of musical theatre in the Finger Lakes Region."
Sueann Townsend, executive director of Fort Hill Performing Arts Center, said the venue is excited to host Forte Studios' first full-length musical and expects the partnership to continue beyond the July production.
The Tony Award-winning musical comedy follows a group of young spelling champions as they compete for a county title while navigating adolescence, ambition and self-discovery.
