Dozens of protesters gathered outside Geneva City Hall on Sunday evening to condemn recent immigration enforcement actions and speak out against arrests involving workers in the community.
Demonstrators carried signs calling for an end to deportations as speakers addressed the crowd from the steps of City Hall before marching down Castle Street chanting in protest.
Organizers said the rally was intended to draw attention to the impact immigration arrests are having on local families and the broader Geneva community.
Karen Frost-Arnold of Finger Lakes Rapid Response said the organization helps families affected by immigration enforcement by providing support in the aftermath of detentions and arrests.
The rally comes amid growing local concern over immigration enforcement activity across the Finger Lakes and western New York, where advocates say families are being disrupted and workers removed from communities with little public information released about the arrests.
