Cayuga County man charged after domestic investigation leads to burglary arrest

A Cayuga County man is facing felony burglary and child endangerment charges after deputies investigating a domestic incident in Ledyard connected him to a separate burglary reported the same night in Genoa, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say 44-year-old John D. Nobles, of Ledyard, was taken into custody after detectives found him in possession of items allegedly stolen during the burglary investigation.

The sheriff’s office said deputies first responded May 14 to a reported domestic incident in the Town of Ledyard. Investigators later determined Nobles had engaged in conduct that endangered the welfare of children at the residence. According to the release, Nobles had already left the scene after receiving a ride from a third party before deputies arrived.

Later that evening, Cayuga County 911 received a report of a burglary in the Town of Genoa involving stolen property from a residence. Detectives eventually located Nobles back in Ledyard and arrested him after allegedly recovering proceeds from the burglary in his possession.

Nobles was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned May 15 in CAP Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
