Seneca Falls Museum & Tourism Center celebrates grand reopening after renovations

The Seneca Falls Museum & Tourism Center has officially reopened following a series of renovations aimed at modernizing the facility and improving visitor amenities along the Cayuga-Seneca Canal.

The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony April 29 to mark the grand reopening of the museum and tourism center on Fall Street in Seneca Falls. Community members, elected officials, chamber representatives, museum board members, and local business owners attended the event.

Officials said the building recently underwent several upgrades, including the installation of a new information desk, updated exterior façade and doors, and improvements to the ground-floor amenities used by canal boaters.

The three-story museum serves as both a tourism center and historical attraction focused on the history of Seneca Falls and the canal system. Exhibits throughout the building highlight local industries and landmarks, including Goulds Pumps and the area’s knitting mill history.

The lower level of the building, accessible from the canal side, provides showers, bathrooms, and laundry facilities for boaters traveling through the canal system.

Museum officials are also preparing for a busy summer season of programming and events. Music in the Park will return June 4 with weekly Thursday evening concerts at People’s Park. The museum is also launching an America 250 speaker series featuring 25 presentations tied to local and national history.

Additional upcoming events include “Sails & Ales” on May 23, which will feature local breweries, food vendors, live music, and activities along the canal.
