A Wayne County clay artist who started her business in a backyard shed just landed $20,000 to grow it, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Anne Foulke won the county’s annual adult pitch competition with plans to open a studio, retail shop, and workshop in Palmyra.
Foulke has spent more than two decades creating architectural-quality clay wall sculptures and decorative pieces through her business, Clay Decor Studios LLC. She said the prize money will help transform a building on East Main Street into a public creative space.
The competition drew 16 adult applicants and 13 student teams this year. Organizers also awarded a $5,000 boost prize to Stonehedge Garden Cafe and Farm Market in Marion, while student entrepreneurs split a separate $5,000 prize pool.
