Chick-fil-A, hotel plans move forward

A new Chick-fil-A, an 89-suite hotel, and downtown apartments all moved closer to reality in Auburn, according to The Citizen. City planners reviewed the projects Tuesday, including a proposed TownePlace Suites by Marriott on Grant Avenue and a mixed-use redevelopment at 22 E. Genesee St.

Chick-fil-A plans to build a 4,600-square-foot restaurant after merging properties at 277 and 281 Grant Ave. The Planning Board tabled the proposal until June while staff finishes its review. Indus Hospitality also needs a zoning variance because its planned hotel would exceed the city’s 40-foot height limit.

The board also discussed a Downtown Revitalization Initiative project that would add 13 studio apartments above retail space downtown. Auburn’s next Planning Board meeting is scheduled for June 2.
