A Geneva woman is facing a felony charge after investigators say she failed to disclose income while applying for public assistance benefits through Ontario County.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that Frances D. Strongs, 32, of Geneva, was issued an appearance ticket charging her with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.
According to investigators, the case began after an Ontario County Department of Social Services welfare examiner suspected Strongs failed to report income connected to benefit eligibility. Authorities allege Strongs completed a SNAP recertification application on Feb. 20, 2024 and did not disclose income she received for providing child care services.
Strongs is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
