A notoriously rough parking lot is getting a full overhaul, according to The Citizen, at Willard Memorial Chapel thanks to Auburn’s $10 million revitalization grant.
Crews are reshaping the lot, adding 15 spaces, new sidewalks, and lighting while moving parking farther from the historic building to improve safety. Landscaping upgrades and clearer striping aim to replace what officials called a chaotic layout.
Leaders expect the upgrades to boost weddings and tourism. The project marks the final phase of the chapel’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative work and should wrap up by mid-May.
