Auburn schools approve $112M budget

A tighter budget with job cuts and new hires is heading to voters, according to The Citizen, after the Auburn Enlarged City School District approved its 2026–27 plan.

The $112 million proposal raises taxes to the 2.43% cap and trims several positions, including support staff, teachers, and administrators. At the same time, it adds 11 roles, mostly in special education, and funds summer school without relying on grants.

Board members clashed over a proposed special education leadership job, ultimately tabling it before a unanimous vote. Residents will weigh in May 19 after a public hearing set for May 12.
