A routine early morning patrol in Bath led to a drug arrest after officers spotted two people behind a church and discovered suspected methamphetamine.
Police say the encounter happened around 3:50 a.m. April 24 near the Centenary United Methodist Church on West Washington Street, where an officer observed two individuals sitting on a bench at the rear of the building.
One of the individuals, identified as Travis J. Carlton, 27, of Bath, was allegedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia. Further investigation led officers to locate a quantity of methamphetamine, according to police.
Carlton was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor. He was processed and released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
