A nearly $50 million school budget with a sharp spending jump heads to voters next month, according to the Hornell Evening Tribune.
The Hornell City School District’s $49.8 million plan raises spending by 10.94%, driven by higher debt, salaries, benefits, and BOCES costs. The proposal includes a 2.94% tax levy increase, which stays below the state cap and requires only a simple majority to pass.
Voters will decide May 19, alongside board seats and proposals. State aid tied to Kathy Hochul’s budget would rise modestly, covering about three-quarters of district revenue.
