A musket salute and “Taps” marked a powerful tribute as Farmington unveiled a new historic marker, according to RochesterFirst.
Local leaders and historians gathered at Hathaway Cemetery to honor Stephen Hayward and Isaac Hathaway III, two soldiers who later settled in Ontario County. Hathaway also served as the town’s first clerk, and descendants joined the ceremony.
The marker now highlights their service and burial site, while attendees continued the remembrance with a reception at the historic Hathaway homestead across the street.
