The New York Yankees extended their win streak to six games on Thursday night, rallying past the Boston Red Sox for a 4-2 win at Fenway Park to complete their first road sweep in Boston since 2021 and improve to 16-9, the best record in the American League.
New York leaned on timely hitting and strong pitching to finish off the Red Sox, who fell to 9-16. Cam Schlittler, making his first career start at Fenway Park, delivered another impressive outing, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits over six innings while striking out five. The right-hander, who grew up in the Boston area, continued his strong start to the season and lowered his ERA to 1.77. As a staff, Yankees starters were dominant throughout the series, combining to allow just one earned run over 22.1 innings across the three games.
Boston starter Payton Tolle kept New York’s offense quiet early, striking out 11 over six innings while allowing just one run. However, the momentum shifted once he exited the game. In the seventh inning, Cody Bellinger came through in a key spot, delivering a go-ahead two-run single off the bullpen to give New York a lead it would not surrender.
Next, the Yankees will continue their road trip on Friday when they open a three-game series with the Astros at Daikin Park, with first pitch set for 8:10 p.m.
