A $177 million school budget—and a tax hike—are now headed to voters in Ithaca, according to The Ithaca Voice.
Leaders at Ithaca City School District approved a 5.1% spending increase, driven largely by rising salaries, utilities, and service costs. If voters sign off in May, the tax rate would climb slightly, adding about $126 a year for a typical homeowner.
Board members split on the process, not the plan, with some criticizing limited debate over cuts. Still, the district says it’s financially stable and will use reserves to ease the burden on taxpayers.
