Investigators allege Mendez allowed another individual to use his EBT card to purchase food items without authorization. The case was developed through a joint investigation between the Wayne County Department of Social Services and sheriff’s deputies.

Mendez was charged with misuse of food stamps and petit larceny. He was processed at the Wayne County Jail and released on an appearance ticket.

He is scheduled to appear in Lyons Town Court on April 21.
