Suspect in custody after Newark standoff following crash into home, police say

A traffic stop in Newark escalated into a pursuit, crash, home break-in, and hours-long standoff Friday night, ending with one suspect in custody and two others still at large.

Police said the incident began around 7:10 p.m. when an officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the village. The driver fled, leading to a brief pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed into a home on Hoffman Street.
