Cornell women’s lacrosse rallied from a large deficit but fell 14-12 to Princeton on Saturday at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.

The Big Red (7-5, 2-2 Ivy League) trailed 7-3 at halftime after Princeton controlled the opening half, building a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and maintaining the advantage into the break.
Cornell responded with a dominant third quarter, scoring seven goals and erasing a five-goal deficit. After falling behind 10-5, the Big Red surged with five consecutive goals in just over five minutes to tie the game at 10-10. Lexie Tully led the charge, finishing with four goals, while Gretta White added two. Ellie Bornhoeft, Kathleen Michaud and Lilly Whaling also contributed during the run.
The teams traded goals late in the third and early in the fourth, with Tully tying the game again at 11-11. Princeton answered with three straight goals, including two player-up conversions, to regain control at 14-11.
Cornell cut the deficit to two late on a player-up goal from Ellie Bergin, but could not complete the comeback.
Despite the loss, Cornell held advantages in shots (32-28), shots on goal (23-22) and draw controls (20-8), with Addy Smith and Caitlin Tully each recording seven draw controls. Ella Wilmot added three assists, and Mackenzie Clark made eight saves in goal.
Cornell returns to action Saturday, April 10, traveling to face Penn with opening draw set for 12 p.m.
