Cornell men’s lacrosse earned its first win at Franklin Field since 2018, defeating Penn 16-8 on Saturday to improve to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in Ivy League play.

Tied 4-4 midway through the second quarter, the Big Red took control with a 4-0 run sparked by a man-up goal from Brian Luzzi. Cornell carried the momentum into halftime with a 9-5 lead, then dominated the third quarter, holding Penn scoreless while extending the advantage to 13-5.
Cornell outscored Penn 12-4 over the final 39 minutes to break the game open.
Willem Firth led the offense with four goals and one assist, while Luzzi added three goals and two assists. Ryan Goldstein contributed two goals and two assists, and Ryan Waldman recorded a hat trick. Rowyn Nurry added two goals in his return to the lineup.
At the faceoff X, Jack Cascadden controlled possession, winning 15-of-22 draws and collecting key ground balls.
Defensively, Matthew Tully made 11 saves as Cornell limited Penn’s top scoring threats. Griffin Scane finished with three goals for the Quakers, while Davis Provost was held to one.
Cornell also capitalized on opportunities throughout, using its depth and balanced scoring to steadily pull away after the second-quarter tie.
The Big Red returns to action Saturday, April 11, facing Duke at a neutral site on Long Island.
