New Yorkers are being urged to roll up their sleeves and head outdoors next month as registration opens for the state’s largest volunteer event focused on parks and public lands.
State officials announced that the 15th annual “I Love My Park” Day will take place Saturday, May 2, with cleanup and improvement projects planned at more than 120 locations statewide.
The event, organized by the Department of Environmental Conservation, State Parks, and Parks & Trails New York, invites volunteers to take part in activities ranging from trail restoration and invasive species removal to planting and general site cleanup.
Organizers say the annual effort plays a key role in maintaining public lands while raising awareness about the importance of stewardship, with events spanning from Long Island to Western New York.
The initiative also aligns with broader state efforts to encourage outdoor activity, particularly among families, as officials continue to promote time spent outside for both physical and mental health.
